Περιγραφή

The Grevena-Kozani Geopark is one of the 6 recognized Geoparks in Greece that have been included in the UNESCO Global Geoparks map.

It is an area with a particularly rich geological heritage and a multitude of geo-signs, reminiscent of the lost world of Pangaea, the ancient mega-continent that existed before Europe and Africa were created. With the movement of tectonic plates, relief landscapes of rare beauty and great biodiversity have been created.

The Grevena-Kozani Geopark includes areas such as the Portitsa Gorge, Vasilitsa, Valia Kalda, Orliakas, Vounasa, Trypimeni in Mikralivado, the excavation sites where prehistoric elephants were found, etc.
